Jackson Man Killed His Grandmother Inside Jackson Green Luxury Apartment Complex

Jackson Township, NJ – An 18-year-old Jackson Township man faces murder charges after police found his 69-year-old grandmother dead with stab wounds and two knives protruding from her body inside a home Monday morning.

Louis Brown was charged May 18 with Murder, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon in connection with the death of Darlene Brown, according to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer. Investigators said the killing happened at a residence on Justin Way in Jackson Township.

Police responded to the home around 7 a.m. after receiving a 911 call reporting that someone had been murdered. When officers from the Jackson Township Police Department arrived, they found Louis Brown standing in the front doorway of the residence.

Brown exited the home with his hands raised and was immediately taken into custody while officers searched the property, authorities said.

Victim Found in Upstairs Bedroom With Multiple Stab Wounds

Investigators said officers entered the home and discovered Darlene Brown dead in an upstairs bedroom.

According to prosecutors, the 69-year-old suffered apparent stab wounds to her face and neck. Officers also found two knives protruding from the victim’s body.

An investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit, the Jackson Township Police Department Detective Bureau, and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit later determined that Louis Brown himself had placed the 911 call reporting the homicide.

Authorities said the investigation further revealed that Brown was responsible for his grandmother’s death.

Multi-Agency Investigation Led to Arrest

Brown was transported to the Ocean County Jail, where he remains held pending a detention hearing.

Prosecutor Billhimer credited detectives, crime scene investigators, and the Ocean County Medical Examiner’s Office for what he described as a coordinated investigation that led to Brown’s rapid arrest.

The investigation remains active. Officials have not released a possible motive or additional details about what may have led to the fatal stabbing inside the family home. Before his arrest, Brown allegedly waited at the doorway of the residence as officers arrived following the emergency call, according to prosecutors.

The homicide marks another violent domestic killing investigation in Ocean County involving family members inside a private residence, though prosecutors have not indicated whether there had been prior police responses connected to the home.

Authorities have not said whether additional witnesses were present in the residence at the time of the stabbing.

Case Moves Toward Detention Hearing

Brown now faces multiple criminal charges tied to the homicide investigation, including murder and weapons offenses.

Under New Jersey law, defendants charged with murder can be held pending trial following a detention hearing if prosecutors argue they pose a danger to the community or a flight risk.

The charges against Brown remain accusations, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
