EVESHAM TOWNSHIP, NJ – A juvenile has been charged after police linked a stolen vehicle and a series of car burglaries in Evesham Township to a Camden residence.
The case began November 8 when officers responded to the Cambridge Park neighborhood for reports of a stolen vehicle and multiple vehicle burglaries.
Investigators found that the stolen car had been left unlocked with the keys inside before it was taken overnight.
Police said the theft was part of a growing pattern in recent months involving unlocked vehicles across the township.
Detectives reported that in nearly every case, owners left keys, key fobs, and valuable items such as wallets, purses, and electronics inside their cars.
Detectives identify juvenile suspect
After developing a suspect, Evesham Township detectives obtained a search warrant with assistance from the Camden County Sheriff’s Emergency Response Team and Medford Police.
On December 10, officers executed the warrant on Ramona Gonzalez Street in Camden, where they recovered evidence linking the juvenile to the stolen vehicle.
The suspect was charged with receiving a stolen motor vehicle following the operation.
Because the individual is under 18, their identity was not released by authorities.
Police highlight rise in vehicle thefts
Evesham Township Police noted a continuing increase in motor vehicle thefts and burglaries, emphasizing that the majority involve unlocked cars.
Officials urged residents to remove keys, key fobs, and valuables, warning that unsecured vehicles remain frequent targets.
Law enforcement agencies across the region are coordinating efforts to address the trend and recover stolen property.
