Police hunt suspect after attempted street robbery

NEW YORK, NY — A 53-year-old woman fought back after a man allegedly pulled a knife and demanded her purse on a Bronx street, but the confrontation ended with the victim being punched in the face before the suspect fled empty-handed, police said.

The attempted robbery happened at approximately 7:52 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, in front of 2017 Castle Hill Ave. within the confines of the 43rd Precinct, according to the NYPD.

Police said the unidentified suspect approached the woman, displayed a knife and demanded her purse.

The victim refused and attempted to walk away. Investigators said the suspect then punched her in the face before fleeing northbound on Castle Hill Avenue without obtaining the purse.

The NYPD has released information about the incident and is asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect.
