Man gunned down in Virginia Beach as suspect charged with second-degree murder
VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – A 20-year-old Newport News man was shot and killed early Saturday morning on North Great Neck Road in Virginia Beach, and a 21-year-old suspect from Norfolk has now been arrested and charged with his murder.
Just after 2 a.m. Saturday, emergency services received a call about a gunshot victim in the 400 block of North Great Neck Road. When officers arrived, they found Juelle Morton suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following an investigation by detectives, police identified Cesar Bermudez Evans as the alleged shooter. Evans was arrested on Sunday and is now facing charges of second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
The case remains under investigation by the Virginia Beach Police Department’s Detective Bureau. No details have been released on a possible motive or the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
