Man arrested after stabbing leaves victim hospitalized near Moyston Street

SCHENECTADY, NY — A Friday evening call for a stabbing near the intersection of Moyston Street and Hilderbrandt Avenue led officers to a man in his 30s suffering abdominal wounds and later resulted in the arrest of a suspect located nearby, according to the Schenectady Police Department.

Officers arrived around 6 p.m. on February 13 and found the victim with stab injuries. Police provided medical aid until members of the Schenectady Fire Department and Mohawk Ambulance Service reached the scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

A search for the suspect was conducted throughout the evening. Officers located a man later identified as 42-year-old Hector A. Perez at 23½ Moyston Street. He was taken into custody without incident.

Perez has been charged with assault in the first degree, a Class B felony, and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, a Class A misdemeanor.

The investigation remains ongoing.
