Maryland bride to be spins her way to $90K lottery jackpot before wedding day

A Salisbury airport employee is now planning a bigger honeymoon after huge Big Spin win

SALISBURY, Md. — A Maryland bride-to-be is heading into wedding season with a major financial boost after spinning her way to a $90K Maryland Lottery jackpot during a trip to Baltimore with her fiancé and mother.

Victoria, a Salisbury Regional Airport employee, claimed the prize after winning a spot on the Maryland Lottery’s Big Spin Wheel through THE BIG SPIN scratch-off game.

Lottery officials said Victoria arrived at headquarters alongside her fiancé for the live wheel spin after scanning her winning ticket and discovering she had secured one of the game’s rare Big Spin prizes.

The Salisbury woman had been playing THE BIG SPIN game with her fiancé and mother since the scratch-off launched in March.

According to lottery officials, Victoria previously won smaller prizes through the game’s digital spin feature, but this time her ticket displayed a message announcing she had won a Big Spin trip to lottery headquarters.

The couple, who also share a five-month-old son, arranged childcare before making the trip to Baltimore for the event.

When it came time to spin the wheel, officials said Victoria sent it spinning multiple times before it landed on the $90,000 prize slot.

The winner said the unexpected jackpot now gives the couple more flexibility while planning their wedding and honeymoon, with the Bahamas among the possible destinations being considered.

Lottery officials said part of the winnings will also be set aside for the couple’s young son.

The winning ticket was sold at Express Mart, located at 617 North Salisbury Blvd. in Salisbury. The retailer will receive a $900 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

THE BIG SPIN is a $5 Maryland Lottery scratch-off game that launched March 20. Players who reveal a SPIN symbol can win instant cash prizes or qualify for a live wheel spin worth between $50,000 and $250,000.

Lottery officials said four live Big Spin prizes remain unclaimed.
