TIMONIUM, Md. — A Maryland Lottery player known as “Glo” believes her late father may have played a part in her $50,000 Pick 5 win. Inspired by a chance sighting of a license plate featuring her father’s birthday, “Glo” purchased the ticket that delivered her big prize.
The Timonium resident, who has been playing the lottery for nearly 40 years, typically favors Multi-Match tickets but occasionally tries Pick 5. Her winning ticket was purchased during a routine stop at the Marathon station on York Road in Lutherville after seeing the meaningful license plate.
Weeks later, while scanning tickets with her sister, “Glo” discovered her $50,000 win in the Nov. 1 evening drawing. “I was stunned,” she said, describing how she celebrated with her sister before rushing home to share the news with her family.
“Glo” plans to use the winnings to renovate her home and set aside money for her children’s future. She expressed gratitude for the win and her determination to keep playing, saying, “Hopefully, I’ll win again — God willing, for even more — but either way, I’m blessed.”
The Marathon station that sold the winning ticket will also receive a $500 Lottery bonus.
