Mattapan drug probe uncovers massive stash

Over 200 grams of drugs seized in Mattapan after multi-agency search warrants

MATTAPAN, MA – A coordinated investigation into suspected drug trafficking ended with a traffic stop, multiple search warrants, and the recovery of large quantities of narcotics and cash tied to a Brookline man operating in the Mattapan area.

The case unfolded after investigators observed the target operating a motor vehicle on Capen Street, where a traffic stop was conducted. Officers informed the suspect they were in possession of multiple search warrants. A search of his person and vehicle resulted in the recovery of 19 grams of crack cocaine and approximately $1,960 in U.S. currency.

Following the stop, investigators executed a search warrant at a residence on Delhi Street in Mattapan. Inside, officers recovered 80 grams of fentanyl, 130 grams of crack cocaine, 165 Suboxone strips, three vials of liquid methadone, digital scales, and materials consistent with drug manufacturing.

Michael Browne, 58, of Brookline, was placed under arrest. The investigation involved Drug Control Units from District C-6 in South Boston, District B-3 in Mattapan, District E-13 in Jamaica Plain, along with the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Browne is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges including trafficking of a Class A substance and trafficking of a Class B substance. As with all criminal cases, the charges are accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
