Authorities say there is no threat to the public as multiple agencies investigate a death reported Wednesday afternoon.

Morristown, NJ – A death investigation is underway after authorities responded to a report of an unresponsive person along Patriots Path in Morristown on Wednesday afternoon. The individual was later pronounced dead at the scene, according to officials.

Emergency responders were called to the area across from Coal Avenue at approximately 3 p.m., where they located the individual. The identity of the deceased has not been released, and officials have not disclosed the circumstances surrounding the death.

The Morris County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed that multiple agencies are involved in the ongoing investigation.

“At approximately 3 p.m. on April 1, 2026, Morristown Police and EMS responded to Patriots Path across from Coal Avenue for an unresponsive person,” the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office said. “The person was later confirmed to be deceased.”
