Police say victim and suspect knew each other
WASHINGTON, D.C. — A man accused of fatally shooting a 35-year-old in Northwest DC was arrested at the scene moments after the gunfire, police said.
According to the Metropolitan Police Department, officers responded at approximately 7:58 p.m. Wednesday to the 2500 block of 41st Street, Northwest DC, for a report of a shooting.
When officers arrived, they found an adult man suffering from gunshot wounds.
DC Fire and EMS personnel responded and pronounced the victim dead at the scene after determining there were no signs consistent with life.
Police identified the victim as 35-year-old Bobby Lee Cannon of Southeast DC.
Second District officers located and detained the suspect at the scene.
Following the investigation, detectives arrested 21-year-old Jeremiah Greene of Alexandria, Virginia, and charged him with first-degree murder while armed.
Investigators said the shooting had domestic overtones and that all parties involved were known to one another.
The investigation remains ongoing.
