Myrtle Beach Juvenile Curfew Enforced in Ocean Boulevard Area as Summer Crowds Increase

Myrtle Beach police are reminding families that unaccompanied minors must leave the downtown Ocean Boulevard area by 9 p.m. unless accompanied by a parent or guardian.

The Myrtle Beach Police Department issued a reminder Friday about the city’s juvenile curfew rules as residents and visitors continue to flock to the Grand Strand during the busy summer season.

Under the ordinance, unaccompanied minors ages 17 and younger must be out of the designated downtown curfew zone and all city-owned properties by 9 p.m. unless they are accompanied by a parent or guardian. Officials said limited exceptions apply for work, emergencies, and other approved circumstances.

Downtown curfew zone covers Ocean Boulevard area

According to the Myrtle Beach Police Department, the curfew zone stretches from the Atlantic Ocean west to Kings Highway, between 6th Avenue South and 21st Avenue North. It also includes Broadway Street between 7th Avenue North and 9th Avenue North.

“The Myrtle Beach Police Department would like to remind the public of the juvenile curfew in the downtown Ocean Boulevard area,” the department said in a social media post.

Authorities said the restrictions apply to all city-owned properties within the designated area.

Citywide curfew remains in effect overnight

Outside the downtown zone, Myrtle Beach’s citywide juvenile curfew remains in effect from midnight until 6 a.m.

Officials said the curfew is intended to promote public safety and reduce issues involving unsupervised minors during late-night hours.

“We appreciate your cooperation as we work to keep our community safe,” the department said.
