Shots fired in Utica neighborhood leave home struck but no injuries reported
UTICA, NY – Gunfire erupted in the early morning hours on Seymour Avenue, sending bullets into a residence and prompting a police response after a ShotSpotter alert detected multiple rounds fired.
Officers were dispatched at approximately 2:25 a.m. Tuesday to the 1500 block of Seymour Avenue following the alert. When units arrived, they located five spent shell casings at the scene.
Investigators determined that several rounds struck a nearby residence during the incident. No injuries were reported.
The Utica Police Department’s GIVE Unit has taken over the investigation as officers work to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
