Teen arrested weeks after Columbia Heights shooting left victim wounded
WASHINGTON, DC – A shooting in Columbia Heights that left a victim hospitalized with serious injuries has led to the arrest of a teenage suspect more than a month after the incident.
Officers responded at approximately 3:26 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, to the 1300 block of Columbia Road Northwest following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they located a victim suffering from a gunshot wound.
DC Fire and EMS transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment. The extent of the injuries was described as serious.
On Monday, April 13, a 15-year-old male from Northwest DC was taken into custody under a DC Superior Court order. He has been charged with assault with a dangerous weapon involving a gun.
No additional details about the suspect have been released due to his age.
