Mystery deepens after fatal hit and run leaves man dead in downtown Baltimore

Baltimore, MD – A man struck and killed in the early morning hours along a downtown corridor remains unidentified as investigators search for answers and the public’s help days after the deadly crash.

The incident occurred early Wednesday morning at approximately 2:12 a.m. in the 100 block of Market Place. Responding officers found an adult male unresponsive in the roadway, suffering from severe head trauma. Medics pronounced the man dead at the scene.

The victim’s body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, where investigators later determined he had been struck by a vehicle in what is now classified as a fatal pedestrian-involved hit and run. The driver involved did not remain at the scene.

Detectives say the victim has not yet been identified. Police released an image of the man in hopes that someone may recognize him and help locate his identity and next of kin.

The case was initially investigated as a suspicious death before medical findings confirmed the cause as injuries sustained from a vehicle strike. Investigators continue working to identify both the victim and the driver involved.

Anyone who recognizes the victim or has information related to the crash is urged to contact the Accident Investigation Unit at 410-396-2606 or call 911.
