WEEHAWKEN, N.J. — The New Jersey State Police conducted a high-visibility security operation at Port Imperial on Thanksgiving Eve to ensure the safety of travelers during one of the busiest travel periods of the year.
Units involved in the effort included the Target Hardening Unit, the Mounted Unit, and the Marine Services Bureau, all working together to enhance vigilance and deter potential threats at the transportation hub in Weehawken. The operation aligns with the “See Something, Say Something” initiative, which encourages the public to report suspicious activity to authorities.
“This effort underscores our commitment to keeping holiday travel safe,” the State Police said in a statement.
Travelers are reminded to report any suspicious behavior to law enforcement or the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness’ Counter-Threat Watch Unit at 1-866-4-SAFE-NJ.
