Pair found with sawed off shotgun and drugs after motel raid in Tinton Falls

Officers serving a warrant at a local motel uncovered guns, crack cocaine and a suspect hiding under a bed, police said.

TINTON FALLS, N.J. — A warrant service at a Tinton Falls motel led officers to two people, a handgun, a sawed-off shotgun and suspected drugs after one of the suspects allegedly tried to avoid arrest by hiding under a bed, according to police.

The Borough of Tinton Falls Police Department said Craig Twigg, 40, of Middletown, and Lynette Scarantino, 44, of Keansburg, were arrested June 14 at the Red Roof Inn, 11 Centre Plaza.

Scarantino was additionally charged with hindering apprehension after police alleged she attempted to conceal Twigg under a bed to prevent his arrest on an outstanding warrant.

Authorities said Scarantino was processed and released on a summons. Twigg was processed and taken to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution.

Patrolman Logan Keefer made the arrests and was assisted by Sgt. Christopher Whalen, Patrolman Claude Jones, Patrolman Nicole Melia, Detective Michael Ballas, Patrolman Max Lorenzo, Patrolman Tyler Dobrzynski and Special Law Enforcement Officer II Kyle Wlazlowski.
