Teens clash with police at Dorchester Panera as chaos erupts during arrest

BOSTON, Mass. — Five teenagers were arrested after a chaotic confrontation with police at a Dorchester Panera Bread that escalated into a physical struggle and property damage.

Officers responded around 3:37 p.m. on March 23 to the restaurant on Allstate Road for reports of a group refusing to leave.

Police said the same group had already been removed earlier in the day and had been the subject of multiple prior calls to the location this year.

After being told to leave again, the teens exited but then re-entered the restaurant, prompting officers to return and detain them.

Authorities said the situation quickly escalated when one teen shoved an officer, sparking a chaotic scene involving screaming, physical resistance and damage inside the restaurant.

Police said suspects kicked and shoved officers, refused commands and, in one case, threw a table.

Five juveniles — ranging in age from 14 to 17 — were taken into custody and face charges including trespassing, assault and battery on a police officer and resisting arrest.

All are expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
