$2 million Powerball ticket bought online in Pennsylvania hits big in Monday’s drawing
MIDDLETOWN, PA – A lucky Pennsylvania Lottery player is waking up $2 million richer after purchasing a winning Powerball® ticket online for Monday night’s drawing — the latest in a growing number of high-value wins through the state’s online platform.
The ticket matched all five white balls drawn — 3, 29, 42, 46, 59 — but missed the red Powerball 15. Because the buyer added the $1 Power Play® option, the prize doubled from $1 million to $2 million. The Power Play® multiplier for the draw was three, though it does not apply to the Match 5 prize, which is capped at $2 million when Power Play® is active.
The identity of the winner has not yet been confirmed, as all tickets must be validated and claimed before names are released. The Pennsylvania Lottery notes that online winnings of $2 million must be claimed in person at Lottery Headquarters.
In addition to the top-tier winner, more than 16,500 other Powerball tickets purchased in Pennsylvania also won prizes in Monday’s draw, including over 4,000 tickets with Power Play® and more than 2,600 tickets with Double Play®.
The Powerball jackpot rolled over and now stands at an estimated $127 million annuity — or a $59 million lump sum — for the next drawing scheduled for Wednesday night.
Players have one year from the drawing date to claim any winnings. For online ticket holders, most smaller prizes are automatically added to their accounts after claims are processed.
