Roxbury traffic stop erupts into chaos before cops recover gun and drugs

Traffic stop in Roxbury leads to arrests, loaded firearm recovery, and 34 grams of narcotics

BOSTON, MA – An early-morning traffic stop involving a speeding vehicle that nearly struck several parked cars ended with two men in custody, a loaded firearm recovered, and more than 30 grams of narcotics seized in Roxbury.

Officers assigned to District B-2 observed the vehicle around 2:45 a.m. Monday traveling at a high rate of speed before initiating a stop near Wenonah Street. The driver slowed but did not pull over immediately, prompting officers to note the delay as they approached the car. The operator could not provide a physical license but verbally identified himself as officers explained the reason for the stop.

As officers continued the investigation and asked both occupants to step out of the vehicle, the driver rolled up the window, locked the doors, and reversed into a police cruiser. He then attempted to flee forward, but additional officers arrived and removed him from the vehicle. Both individuals resisted but were taken into custody.

A loaded Smith & Wesson M&P Shield handgun was recovered from inside the vehicle. The firearm contained one round in the chamber and six in the magazine, and the serial number had been intentionally removed. An inventory search led to the discovery of plastic bags containing cocaine and crack cocaine with a combined weight of 34 grams.
