SECAUCUS, N.J. — A Paterson man has been arrested for allegedly laundering money linked to a prostitution ring operating in Secaucus and surrounding counties, authorities announced Thursday.
Roldan R. Jimenez-Rodriguez, 41, was taken into custody in Newark on January 30 by the Secaucus Police Department’s Anti-Crime Unit following a five-month investigation into the financial operations of a prostitution network. He faces charges of money laundering, promoting prostitution, and conspiracy to commit money laundering.
Police began investigating in September 2024 after receiving intelligence that a “courier” was collecting proceeds from prostitution operations and redistributing the funds. Detectives identified Jimenez-Rodriguez as the courier and conducted surveillance, tracking his movements across hotels and motels in Secaucus, Bergen County, and Middlesex County.
According to investigators, Jimenez-Rodriguez regularly met with prostitutes to collect cash before depositing the funds into a bank in Paterson. He then electronically transferred the money to other participants in the operation. Authorities estimate that he laundered thousands of dollars per month.
Jimenez-Rodriguez was released pending a court appearance. Secaucus Police Chief Dennis Miller praised the Anti-Crime Unit’s efforts, stating, “The dedication to this endeavor by the members of the Anti-Crime Unit is unparalleled, and I am proud of their investigative work.”
Authorities say the arrest marks a significant step in disrupting illicit activities linked to human trafficking and prostitution in the region.
