Malvern man charged with unlawful contact and sexual assault of minors

MALVERN, PA — A 30-year-old man from Malvern is facing serious charges after Chester County Detectives say he used social media apps to solicit explicit content from minors and engage in sexual conversations.

On January 16, 2026, Matthew Hogan was arrested and charged with Unlawful Contact with Minors, Sexual Assault of Minors, and other related offenses. He is being held in Chester County Prison after failing to post $500,000 bail.

According to the criminal complaint, investigators received a cyber tip in October 2025, which led to the discovery that Hogan used Snapchat to send sexually explicit messages to minors. Authorities believe he had contact with at least 13 identified child victims who either sent him sexual images or engaged in explicit exchanges. Additional unidentified victims have also been seen in images recovered from his phone.

Hogan is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

Chester County District Attorney Christopher de Barrena-Sarobe urged parents to come forward if they recognize Hogan or his social media alias “wolf_of_broadst.” He also emphasized the importance of monitoring children’s online interactions to help prevent exploitation.

Concerned individuals are urged to call Chester County Detectives at 610-344-6866 or report suspected child abuse to Childline at 1-800-932-0313. Reports may be made anonymously.
