Armed robbery suspect captured hours after holdup at Columbus business
COLUMBUS, OH – A morning robbery at a north Columbus business ended with a SWAT arrest the same day after a suspect was identified and tracked down following a public tip.
The incident occurred at approximately 9:24 a.m. Monday in the 8300 block of Sancus Boulevard. Police said an unidentified man entered the business, displayed a handgun, and demanded money from an employee.
The employee handed over an undisclosed amount of cash before the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle believed to be an older model Ford Taurus.
Authorities described the suspect as a heavyset white male in his 50s.
Following the robbery, information from police personnel and members of the community led to the identification of the suspect as David Brown. An arrest warrant was issued, and Columbus Police SWAT officers took him into custody later that day in the 800 block of Wiltshire Road.
No injuries were reported during the incident.
The investigation remains ongoing.
