Police Arrest Suspect in Narcotics Case
**Galloway Township, NJ** – A narcotics arrest took place early Saturday when Officer Rao observed suspicious activity in a parking lot on Brigantine Blvd. The situation unfolded around 4:22 a.m. as a vehicle without a front license plate left the area, catching Rao’s attention.
Officer Rao, along with Officer Sofield, stopped the vehicle at the 4300 Block of Brigantine Blvd. During this stop, Rao’s observations led him to suspect further criminal activity by the vehicle’s occupants. This suspicion prompted a request for a narcotics detection K9.
Officer LaSassa and K9 Evo of the Galloway Township Police Department arrived to assist with the situation. K9 Evo detected the presence of narcotics, leading to a search that uncovered suspected cocaine and Codeine.
Subsequently, Sharod Gillard-Twitty from Middlesex, NJ, was apprehended and charged with possession of cocaine, possession with intent to distribute, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance. He was released on a summons pending a court date.
Virginia Beach Police Conducts Successful Traffic Blitz
**Virginia Beach, VA** – The Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) conducted an enhanced traffic enforcement initiative throughout December. The program aimed at reducing crashes and improving driving behaviors within the city.
This “traffic blitz” was concentrated in Virginia Beach’s four precincts, targeting areas identified as high-crash locations and those highlighted by community complaints. The initiative led to 337 traffic stops and issued 390 summonses. Additionally, there were five arrests for driving under the influence and two for outstanding warrants, along with the recovery of a stolen firearm and illegal drugs.
VBPD Chief Paul Neudigate emphasized the significance of such operations in maintaining the city’s safety. He stressed the dual benefits of enhancing road safety and curtailing crime.
The Traffic Safety Unit launched this initiative to curb speeding, distracted driving, and other unsafe practices. VBPD advises all road users to adhere to safety rules and anticipates continuing similar efforts into 2025.
