Fatal Accident Investigation Underway in Smyrna

**Smyrna, DE** – The Delaware State Police are looking into a fatal single-vehicle accident that happened Sunday morning in Smyrna.

Around 9:38 a.m. on Sunday, a 1995 Freightliner dump truck was driving southbound on Korean War Veterans Memorial Highway. A blown tire led the truck off the roadway near the East Commerce Street overpass, where it hit a berm and overturned.

The truck’s driver, a 63-year-old Magnolia, Delaware resident, was taken to a local hospital and later pronounced dead. Authorities are withholding his identity pending family notification.
