Teen charged as adult after Germantown shooting hits multiple homes

Teen charged as adult after bullets tear through Germantown homes in early morning shooting

Gaithersburg, MD — Gunfire that pierced multiple homes in a Germantown neighborhood has led to attempted murder charges against a teenager months after the incident rattled residents.

Seventeen-year-old Jaden Proctor, of Germantown, has been charged as an adult in connection with the November 27 shooting on Staffordshire Drive, Montgomery County Police said.

Officers responded around 4:47 a.m. to reports of shots fired in the 20500 block, where they recovered several shell casings. Investigators determined that at least four homes were struck by gunfire, with bullets entering multiple bedrooms, including one where a child was sleeping.

No injuries were reported.

Proctor was previously arrested on December 17 on unrelated warrants, during which officers recovered a firearm. He was charged at that time with separate firearms offenses.

Following further investigation, detectives obtained an arrest warrant on April 16 charging Proctor with attempted first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit attempted first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a crime of violence, and additional firearm-related charges.

He is currently being held at the Central Processing Unit.

The investigation remains ongoing.
