Teen charged in fatal Henry Hudson Parkway crash that killed two

September 14, 2024

MANHATTAN, N.Y. — A 17-year-old male has been arrested and charged in connection with a fatal car crash on the Henry Hudson Parkway last month that left two people dead, authorities said.

The collision occurred on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at approximately 2:21 a.m. Police said a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by the 17-year-old suspect, and a 2019 Toyota Rav4 were traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of the Henry Hudson Parkway near West 165th Street. The Chevrolet struck a 2021 Dodge Challenger, operated by a 38-year-old man, before hitting a 2018 Audi S3 driven by a 27-year-old man.

The impact from the Chevrolet sent debris into the Toyota Rav4. The 17-year-old driver and a 21-year-old male passenger of the Chevrolet fled the vehicle, which then became engulfed in flames.

The 38-year-old driver of the Dodge was transported to New York-Presbyterian Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His 40-year-old passenger was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem and also pronounced dead. The 21-year-old passenger of the Chevrolet was treated at NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem in stable condition. The occupants of the Audi, a 27-year-old driver and a 28-year-old passenger, were transported to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
