Teen passenger killed as car crashes into tree

Virginia Beach, VA – A late-night drive ended in tragedy when a vehicle veered off a dark roadway and struck a tree, killing a teenage passenger and leaving another person injured.

The crash happened shortly after midnight in the 3200 block of Head River Road, where emergency crews were dispatched for a single-vehicle collision. When first responders arrived, they found a 17-year-old female passenger from Virginia Beach who had suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A second passenger was transported to a nearby hospital with injuries that were not considered life threatening. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, police said.

Preliminary findings indicate the vehicle was traveling westbound on Head River Road when it lost control, left the roadway, and crashed into a tree. No other vehicles were involved.
