Thief slips into DC ambulance as crews respond to emergency

A person responding to a medical emergency returned to discover an ambulance had been entered and equipment stolen while it sat unattended in Northeast DC.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A suspect is being sought after items were stolen from a DC Fire and EMS ambulance while emergency personnel were inside responding to a call in Northeast DC.

The theft occurred at approximately 3:20 p.m. on June 28 in the unit block of K Street, Northeast.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, members of DC Fire and EMS were inside a nearby location assisting with an emergency when a suspect entered the unoccupied ambulance and stole items before fleeing.

Responding officers were unable to locate the suspect.

A surveillance camera captured images of the individual, and investigators have released the photo in hopes someone will recognize the suspect.

A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the person responsible.

The investigation remains ongoing.
