Glass bottle assault rattles Times Square subway platform

New York, NY – An early morning ride through Times Square turned violent when a man was struck from behind with a glass bottle on a crowded subway platform, an unprovoked attack that sent the suspect fleeing into the city.

The assault occurred around 2:05 a.m. on Thursday, January 1, on the northbound platform for the N, Q, and R trains at the 42 Street–Times Square subway station. Investigators said a 40-year-old man was approached from behind by an unidentified individual and struck in the back of the head with a glass bottle.

The attacker fled the station immediately after the assault and was not apprehended at the scene. The victim’s condition was not released.

The incident took place within the confines of the 14th Precinct and Transit District 1. The case remains under investigation.
