Stabbing on Genesee Street leaves man critically wounded after door knock attack

UTICA, NY — A pre-dawn stabbing in the 200 block of Genesee Street left a man hospitalized in critical but stable condition after he opened his door and was immediately attacked, according to information released by the City of Utica Police Department.

Utica Police and Fire units responded around 1 a.m. on February 15 and found the victim suffering from multiple stab wounds to the face and neck. He was transported to Wynn Hospital for emergency treatment.

While officers interviewed others at the scene, they learned that another person attempted to intervene during the attack and suffered a laceration to their hand before the suspect fled the area.

The case has been assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division. Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Utica Police Department CID at 315-223-3510 or submit anonymous tips through Mohawk Valley Crime Stoppers.
