MONROE TOWNSHIP, NJ — Monroe Township Police Department issued a winter weather advisory for the area, anticipating snowfall to begin this evening and continue into Tuesday. Forecasters predict a mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain, with an expected accumulation of 1-3 inches.

Residents are urged to move vehicles and garbage cans off the roads to aid the Department of Public Works in clearing efforts. The police department warns of slippery road conditions and advises extreme caution while driving. They recommend driving at or below the speed limit and adjusting speed according to road conditions.

New Jersey law mandates the removal of snow and ice from vehicles before driving, particularly from the hood, windows, and roof. Residents are also advised to assume all downed power lines are live.

Non-essential travel should be avoided, and extra time is advised for Tuesday morning commutes. Power outages should be reported directly to JCP&L at 1-888-LIGHTSS. In emergencies, dial 911.
