CHERRY HILL, N.J. — A woman died early Thursday in a fast-moving house fire that engulfed three homes on Severn Avenue, according to officials and local reports.
The Cherry Hill Fire Department responded to the blaze at approximately 2:40 a.m., arriving on the scene within four minutes, authorities said. Despite their rapid response, firefighters were unable to rescue the woman trapped inside one of the homes, according to local officials.
The fire, which began in the 1200 block of Severn Avenue, quickly spread to two neighboring properties, causing extensive damage. Officials have not yet identified the victim or disclosed the cause of the fire, which remains under investigation.
Crews worked for hours to bring the fire under control, and no other injuries were reported, authorities said. Neighbors in the area described the scene as chaotic, with flames consuming the homes as first responders worked to contain the fire.
