Police in Columbus are searching for the suspect who murdered 17-year-old Makenzi Ridley

COLUMBUS, OH – The Columbus Police Homicide Unit is looking to identify this armed homicide suspect wanted in the death of 17-year-old Makenzi Ridley.

On Thursday, June 24, 2021, at 8:44pm, Columbus Police Officers were called to the Far East Recreation Center at 1826 Lattimer Dr. on a report of a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers found 17-year-old Makenzi Ridley suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. CFD Medics transported Makenzi to Mount Carmel East Hospital in critical condition, where she was pronounced deceased at 9:17pm.

Witnesses stated that a large group of young people gathered near the recreation center when shots were fired and Ridley was fatally injured.

Following the shooting, most of the witnesses fled the scene.
