37-Year-Old Shot Dead in Camden

CAMDEN, NJ – A 37-year-old man was found shot in Camden Friday afternoon, according to a report released today by Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay and Camden County Police Chief Gabriel Rodriguez.

According to MacAulay, on Friday, at approximately 11:59 a.m., officers from the Camden County Police Department responded to the 1200 block of Decatur Street, Camden, New Jersey, in reference to a ShotSpotter activation.

“Upon arrival, officers located a male victim lying on the ground and suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Detectives from the Camden County Police Department Shooting Response Team (SRT) also responded to the scene,” the Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement.

The 37-year-old male victim was later identified as Charles Copling, III of Camden. Officers transported the victim to Cooper University Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at approximately 4:00 p.m., by Doctor Danielle Defeo.
