Newark Armed Carjacking Suspect Arrested

NEWARK, NJ – One of the suspects wanted for a violent carjacking in Newark earlier in July has been arrested.

Interim Newark Public Safety Director Raul Malave III said Raheem Pamplin, 21, of Newark was arrested for carjacking a victim at gunpoint on July 7, 2022.

“Police responded to a report of a carjacking that occurred at approximately 1 p.m. in the 200 block of Frelinghuysen Avenue,” police said. “The victim was sitting in his car when three men approached him from a stolen BMW. Two of the men pointed weapons at the victim, who exited his vehicle. The three suspects fled southbound on Frelinghuysen.

“One of them was later identified as Pamplin. The other suspects have not yet been identified.
