Newark police searching for fugitive shooting suspect

NEWARK, NJ – The Newark Police Department has issued a warrant for a man wanted in connection with a shooting incident in the city in December.

Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé reported today that a warrant has been issued for the arrest of Anthony “Mario” Williams, 29, of Newark, in connection with a shooting that occurred on Friday, December 23.

“At approximately 10:10 p.m., a woman was shot at in the 100 block of South 9th Street by a man she knows. No injuries have been reported as a result of this incident,” Frage said.

Detectives investigating this incident have identified Anthony “Mario” Williams as a suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest on a charge of aggravated assault.
