Man with full shopping cart charged for shoplifting in Utica

UTICA, NY – On Saturday, at approximately 6:05 PM, Utica Police were dispatched to North Utica Walmart following reports of a shoplifting incident.

Chad Croniser, 35, of West Lyden, NY, was apprehended in the parking lot after attempting to leave the store with a cart filled with stolen items.

Upon further investigation, it was determined that the items totaled nearly $1800 in value. Croniser was subsequently arrested and transported to the Utica Police Department, where he was charged with Grand Larceny in the fourth degree. The case serves as a reminder of the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to curb retail theft, which continues to plague communities and businesses alike.
