Suspect in domestic 911 found dead after falling off cliff fleeing police

ALLEGHENY COUNTY, PA – A man wanted for harassment was found dead in a drainage tunnel after fleeing from Moon Township Police.

The incident began yesterday, when officers responded to a domestic disturbance call and remained in the area in case the ex-boyfriend returned to the victim’s residence.

The suspect later returned but fled upon seeing a police vehicle. The preliminary investigation suggests the suspect fell from a small cliff while fleeing and entered the tunnel, where his body was discovered.

Detectives from the Allegheny County Police Homicide Unit are investigating to determine the cause and manner of death.

Due to the nature of the domestic dispute, the suspect’s name was not immediately released by police.

“The preliminary investigation shows that the suspect fled from his vehicle into a wooded area. As he ran through the wooded area it appears that the male fell from a small cliff. He was then able to make his way into the sewer tunnel where he was found deceased by Moon Township Police,” the Allegheny County Police Department said in a statement.

He was later identified as 35-year-old Panayioti Rause. His body was found after a 14-hour search
