Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest and Drug Charges for Cumberland Woman

by Leo Canega

CUMBERLAND, MD – Yesterday, a Cumberland City Police officer conducted a traffic stop due to numerous equipment violations in the area of N. Mechanic Street. During the stop, a police K9 was utilized for a free air sniff of the exterior of the vehicle, which alerted officers to the presence of narcotics inside.

A subsequent search led to the discovery of suspected fentanyl on a female passenger, later identified as Jessica Ann Hamilton, 35, of Cumberland, MD.

Hamilton initially provided officers with a false name, as she had an active arrest warrant in Pennsylvania for numerous traffic charges, including accident causing death/injury, driving without a license, and driving while impaired. Hamilton was arrested and taken before the District Court Commissioner for her initial appearance.
