Philadelphia Mental Health Worker Convicted of Medicaid Fraud

HARRISBURG, PA – Attorney General Michelle Henry today announced the conviction of Cornelius Edwards, 45, of Philadelphia, for Medicaid Fraud, Theft by Deception, and Tampering with Public Records on Monday. Edwards, a mental health professional for children with behavioral and mental health challenges, fraudulently billed multiple Pennsylvania Medical Assistance providers for unprovided services.

From 2014 to 2018, Edwards falsified timesheets for several Community Behavioral Health providers, receiving undue compensation for services he claimed to provide.

A Philadelphia County jury found him guilty, with sentencing scheduled for June 26, 2023, before the Honorable Nicholas Kamau.

Attorney General Henry emphasized her office’s commitment to stopping the unlawful abuse of programs designed to help Pennsylvania residents.
