WASHINGTON, D.C. – A woman in Northwest D.C. was reportedly carjacked at gunpoint on Friday morning while putting her baby in the car. The woman was on the way to a physician’s appointment, according to authorities. The carjacking occurred in the 200 block of P Street just before 11 a.m.

The victim informed police that two carjackers with firearms demanded her keys after she had placed her baby in the car. One of the suspects tossed her baby bag out of the vehicle, and the woman rapidly retrieved her baby from the car when gunshots erupted. The gunmen crashed into another vehicle before driving away in the direction of the 200 block of P Street. The gunfire harmed a nearby car and the windows of some homes on the block. The stolen car was found at the 1200 block of 3 Street about 20 minutes later. This investigation is ongoing.
