Delaware man pleads guilty to dealing drugs in Jersey

CAMDEN, NJ – Carl L. Jones, a 49-year-old man from Newport, Delaware, admitted to distributing heroin in New Jersey, U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger announced. Jones pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Christine P. O’Hearn in Camden federal court to an information charging him with one count of distribution and possession with intent to distribute a mixture and substance containing a detectable amount of heroin.

According to documents filed in this case and statements made in court, on March 29, 2019, Jones distributed and possessed with intent to distribute at least 700 grams but less than one kilogram of a mixture and substance containing a detectable amount of heroin to a confidential source.

The transaction took place in a commercial parking lot in Mt. Laurel, New Jersey.

Jones faces a maximum potential penalty of 20 years in prison and a maximum fine of up to $1 million. Sentencing is scheduled for September 6, 2023.
