NYPD investigating hate crime at Queens synagogue

NEW YORK, NY – Police are investigating an antisemitic driven hate crime and assault that took place in Queens on the Sabbath outside Bais Yosef D’Ulem, Rabbi Freidman’s Shul.

On Saturday, at approximately 9 am, a 23-year-old male victim was walking into a synagogue located at 139-19 72 Road while walking to the shul for morning prayer during the holy day of the Sabbath.

According to police, an unknown individual inside a white Sprinter van with graffiti on the sides drove by the location and threw a small rock at the victim, making contact with his leg.

The vehicle then continued traveling westbound on 72 Road towards 139 Street. The victim was not injured and refused medical attention at the scene.

The NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force is currently investigating the incident.
