Major Indictment Targets Brooklyn-Based Gangs

BROOKLYN, NY – On Tuesday, a major indictment was announced against 32 alleged members of Brooklyn-based gangs, the 8 Trey Crips and its affiliate, the 9 Ways gang. The individuals are charged with a total of 140 counts, including conspiracy to commit murder.

The charges are linked to 12 shootings that resulted in 13 victims, one of whom died, and three innocent bystanders were injured. The violence is reportedly fueled by 8 Trey member Michael Williams, also known as rapper Sheff G. Another rapper, Tegan Chambers, also known as Sleepy Hallow, is also charged as a co-conspirator.

Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez, along with New York City Mayor Eric Adams and New York City Police Commissioner Keechant L. Sewell, announced the indictment, highlighting the collaborative efforts made by various city departments to crack down on gang violence.

The indictment covers a series of violent incidents and criminal activities, including 12 shootings with 13 victims, one of whom died. Three shooting victims were innocent bystanders. Approximately 37 different firearms were used or possessed by the defendants, and 19 firearms were recovered during the course of the investigation.

The accused are being arraigned before Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Danny Chun on a litany of charges including second-degree murder, second-degree attempted murder, second-degree conspiracy, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, first-degree assault, and more.
