Home Invasion on Sheehan Road Ends in Fatality

CENTERVILLE, OH – A suspected home invasion in Centerville turned fatal last Thursday when a resident allegedly shot and killed the intruder. The incident was reported to the Centerville Police Department at 4:55 a.m., following a distress call from a woman claiming someone was attempting to break into her residence on Sheehan Road.

During the call, a loud noise believed to be a gunshot was heard. Upon arrival at the scene, officers were met by a male resident who confessed to shooting the alleged intruder. Joseph Gibson, a 36-year-old Dayton resident, was found with a fatal gunshot wound to his head.

Also discovered at the scene was an unresponsive 40-year-old woman lying face down on the front lawn. She was quickly transported to a medical facility for treatment, although her condition and connection to the incident are not currently known. The woman’s health concerns were reportedly unrelated to the shooting, according to Centerville Police.

The incident is under continued investigation by the Centerville Police Department.
