NYPD investigating as hate crime after pride flag stolen from home in Queens

QUEENS, NEW YORK — The New York Police Department is actively investigating a disturbing incident involving the aggressive removal and theft of an LGBTQIA+ Pride flag from a private residence in the vicinity of 190 Street and 75 Avenue in Queens.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, June 13, at approximately 7:23 p.m.

According to reports, two individuals approached the house and forcibly removed the Pride flag, causing damage to the fixture attached to the front of the residence.

The suspects then fled the scene on foot, heading southbound on 190 Street, with the stolen flag in their possession. The NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force has taken over the investigation, underscoring the seriousness of the incident.

Authorities are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating the individuals involved. The suspects are described as males in their late teens, characterized by light complexions and thin builds. Shore News Network has obtained visual evidence of both individuals, captured at the scene of the incident.
