Man Dies Following Assault in Brooklyn, Suspect Arrested

BROOKLYN, NY – A 56-year-old man, who had been found injured at the intersection of Schenectady Avenue and East New York Avenue on Thursday, June 8, has recently passed away due to complications from his injuries.

The New York City Police Department confirmed that upon their arrival, the victim was conscious and was quickly transported to New York City Health and Hospitals/Kings County. Despite being initially listed in stable condition, the man’s health deteriorated and he was pronounced deceased on Friday, June 16.

According to an ongoing investigation, the victim was involved in a physical altercation with 31-year-old Dexter Alexander of 836 Crown Street, Brooklyn.

The altercation resulted in Alexander striking the victim in the face, causing the man to fall and sustain his fatal injuries. Alexander was arrested and charged with assault on Monday.
