Teenager One of Three Arrested for Manhattan Assaults

MANHATTAN, NY – A 17-year-old male was arrested and charged with criminally negligent homicide, gang assault, and criminal possession of a weapon on Thursday.

The arrest took place at around 2:40 am within the jurisdiction of Manhattan’s 33rd Precinct.

In an earlier related event on Wednesday, June 7, Raheem Steed, 22, of 195 Nagle Avenue, Manhattan, Jonadel Lakard, 23, of the same address, and Kelwin Sanchez, 19, of 156 Penbrook Drive, Yonkers, were also arrested and charged. The charges include murder, assault, and criminal possession of a weapon and a firearm. The arrests were made at 6:00 am within the same division.

On Tuesday, May 23, at approximately 7:11 pm, officers responded to a call of a person shot at West 162 Street & Broadway. Upon arrival, officers found Reda Girgis, 66, of 601 West 162 Street, Manhattan, suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. He was transported to NYC Health and Hospitals/Metropolitan Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

No arrests have been made regarding this incident, and the investigation remains ongoing.
