NYPD seeking suspect in gender based hate crime attack

NEW YORK, NY – The New York City Police Department’s Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating an assault/hate crime that occurred in the early hours of Monday, June 12. At approximately 3:08 am, a 21-year-old male was walking in front of 1565 1st Avenue when he was attacked by an unidentified male individual.

The attacker made anti-sexual orientation statements while repeatedly punching the victim in the head, leading to injuries on the left side of his face, a black eye, and a nasal bone fracture. The victim was transported to Lenox Hill Hospital for treatment.

The suspect is described as a male of dark complexion, medium build, approximately 25 to 40 years of age, bald, last seen wearing a black t-shirt, black pants, dark brown boots, and carrying a black backpack.
