Gun-toting 12-Year-Old Charged for Assaulting Officer in Atlantic City

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – A 12-year-old boy from Atlantic City was arrested for alleged illegal weapon possession and assaulting a police officer. On Thursday, Officer Troy Grams of the Atlantic City Police Department observed the juvenile entering a convenience store on the 600 block of New York Avenue with what seemed to be a handgun in his waistband.

When Officer Grams approached, the boy attempted to flee, leading to a struggle during which the officer was bitten. Officer Eric O’Neill-Knuttel aided in arresting the juvenile, during which the loaded handgun in question fell from the youth’s waistband.

Charges against the 12-year-old include unlawful possession of a weapon, aggravated assault on a police officer, obstruction of justice, and resisting arrest. He is currently in custody at the Harborfields Detention Facility.
